BLURB

Heartbreaking and heartwarming in equal measure, DIFFERENTLY NORMAL is about first love and the sacrifices you'll make for the ones you hold close. For fans of Nicholas Sparks and Jojo Moyes.

For Maddy, life is all about routine. It has to be, to keep her autistic sister happy and healthy. With just Maddy and her mother as Bee's full-time carers, there's no time in Maddy's life for complications like friends, let alone a boyfriend. So when Bee joins a new Riding for the Disabled stable and they meet Albert, the last thing on Maddy's mind is falling in love.

Some things, she's about to learn, are outside of our control. Albert has resigned himself to always being a disappointment to his strict father. When he meets Maddy, he gets a glimpse of what being part of a family can be like, and of the tremendous sacrifices that people will make for the ones that they love.

DIFFERENTLY NORMAL is a heart-wrenching tale of love and loss, because sometimes it takes letting someone else in to discover who you really are . . .

'A funny and poignant tale about first love. Tammy Robinson is a natural storyteller.' Nicky Pellegrino

Q&A with Author Tammy Robinson

What is the first book that made you cry?

Before I die, by Jenny Downham. The ending had me sobbing.

If you could tell your young writing self anything, what would be?
Get ready for amazing things to happen! Keep believing in yourself, because (most) people really do love your writing. Your dream of seeing your book on the shelf in a bookshop will come true. Just keep believing.

What was your hardest scene to write?

Ooh that’s a hard one to answer without giving away a massive spoiler! Definitely one of the most emotional scenes towards the end. It reminded me a lot of events in my own life, so writing about loss is always hard for me.

Have you googled yourself?
Yes! A few times. There’s actually another author with the same name (although I think she uses her middle name as well.) I google my books more to check for new reviews.

What is your favourite childhood book?

Growing up, I adored the Trixie Belden books. A group of friends solving mysteries; it always seemed so much fun! I also loved, and read over and over, the Alex quartet by Tessa Duder. So inspiring, and I learnt a lot from them about writing realistic, gritty characters.

What was your favourite part (or chapter) to write in your book and why?

I loved writing the chapter when Maddy and Albert are on the beach, with the campfire. For me it was the chapter they really started to fall in love.

What made you want to become a writer?

A tremendous love of reading, I guess. Since I was very small I’ve always had a book on the go, and they’ve been the most wonderful doorway to the world. I want to entertain people the way I’ve been lucky enough to be entertained over the years.

If your book was turned into a movie, who could you see playing the main characters?

I love the idea of Alex Pettyfer as Albert. He just looks exactly like I imagined him *sighs dreamily*. For the character of Maddy, I’ve been unable to think of anyone who suits her just as she is in my head, so I’m going to say an unknown would be great for the part. I like the idea of it being someone’s big break.

What advice could you give to aspiring authors?

If writing is something you truly love to do, then don’t let anything stop you. It’s very hard to get recognized or make money in this industry, but every time you get a new review or a reader contacts you to tell you how much they loved your book, it makes it all worthwhile.

My Rating:

5 SASSY BOOKS!!

My Review:

I simply LOVED this book, I was hooked from start to finish.

A brilliantly written story that will bring out all the emotions in you. I laughed, I cried, I got mad and I definitely got frustrated. You know it's a good book when you close the last page and you're still reeling from all the emotions it brought forth in you.

This is m first book by Tammy Robinson and I can say now, it definitely won't be my last. I'm so glad that I was introduced to her work.

I simply adored Albert & Maddy. I can see myself having a reread very soon.

Highly recommend picking this book up!
